Park Ridge is a historical community located 15 miles northwest of downtown Chicago. This thriving community has the perfect blend of modern structures and historical buildings, making it a prime example of authentic Americana. Park Ridge is home to the Pickwick Theater, an unusual Art Deco structure that is on the National Historic Landmark Index and continues to operate today. Park Ridge is also the birthplace of former First Lady Hilary ROdam Clinton and actor Harrison Ford.

The History of Park Ridge

The first real settlement that started in this area occurred around 1830, when French explorers created an outpost in this area as they explored the nearby rivers. In 1854, George Penny established a brickwork factory at this location because of the tremendous amount of clay available in the area. The area was nicknamed Pennyville after the founder. Later, the area was known as Brickton, but not officially. The city became Park Ridge, named after the ridge it is located on top of, in 1910.

Park Ridge Today

Today, Park Ridge is a delightful, upscale area that has been continually voted as one of the best places to live in the state. Residents enjoy a lot of open green space, marvelous architecture, and a variety of dining, shopping, and entertainment venues.
