The city of Hermosa is known as the location for early-century industrial factories such as the Laminated Wood Company, Expanded Metal Company, the Eclipse Furnace Company, and the Schwinn Bicycle Company Headquarters. Also known as the birthplace of Walt Disney, this small city played an intricate role in the accommodation of the Chicago and Pacific Railroad Station which provided passage to and from the Milwaukee District/West Line. Immigrants from Scotland, Germany, and Sweden also found Hermosa to be a place for settlement during the early 1800s.

Hermosa experienced a population boom during the 1920s due to its ability to attract new residents with its expansive infrastructure of simple worker cottages, streetcars, and other industrial businesses. Over the following decades, Hermosa continued to increase its population with employment opportunities and affordable housing.

Today, Hermosa is home to more than 25,000 residents. The city continues to carry the legacy of a diversified ethnic community, a top 10 Chicago neighborhood, and an industrial employment center. The city’s landscape offers easy access to Kelvyn Park, The Levee Bar, Belmont Gardens, and the Right Bee Cider.
